Sweet Olive cemetery scheduled to get cleaned
BATON ROUGE - Sweet Olive Cemetery is set to get some much needed attention in the next month and a half.
The Sweet Olive Cemetery board told News 2 that East Baton Rouge parish prison inmates are schedule to clean up the graveyard in September.
Neighbors who live near the site said they are tired of looking at what they call an eyesore.
"We have people come out and clean the cemetery up and then it's right back dirty again. That is kind of irritating," said Van Chew, who lives nearby.
The Board said the reason the cemetery has gone so long without being cleaned is because they've had a lack of volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer to help keep the cemetery clean, call Mid City Redevelopment at (225) 346-1000.
