FALSE RIVER, La.- Hundreds of people took to the water to celebrate Independence Day on False River in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Today marked the 29th annual False River 4th of July Boat Parade. This year the parade theme was "Swamp People" based on the hit reality TV series.
Dozens of boats and piers were decked out in everything from moss to fake alligators. Judge Mark Barker handed out trophies for the best decorations.
"Those people that put a little love into the theme...and the 4th of July is what we're looking for," Barker explained.
Diedre Robert and her family won top prize for the best decorated pier.
"Every year we kind of designate someone to do the decorating, so when we found out what the theme was we automatically started scrounging for a bateau, an alligator, moss and anything we could find to fit the motif," Robert said.
The last price winner took home the "Shoulda Gotta Trophy."
