SWAC honors Jaguars as players of the week

Southern University defensive end Steven Williams and kick returner Byron Williams were honored by the Southwestern Athlete Conference for their performances in the Jaguars' thrilling 48-42 victory Saturday over Alcorn State.
Steven Williams, a member of SU's "Dog Day Defense" posted five tackles and 1 1/2 sacks against the Braves, and was nmaed the SWAC's defensive palyer of the week.
Byron Williams was named specialist of the week, averaging 37.8 yards on four kickoff returns, including a 91-yarder for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Southern takes on Jackson State Saturday at 6 p.m. at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
