All-clear given after suspicious bag found at LSU
BATON ROUGE - LSU Police gave the all-clear a short time ago after they blocked off an area outside the campus library where an unattended black suitcase had been found.
LSU Police notified the campus through the emergency text message system that the situation outside the Middleton Library had been resolved.
Officers had blocked off the area and were working with Baton Rouge Police to identify the suitcase, which was noticed shortly after noon. LSU students and faculty were sent texts notifying them to stay away from the area.
Capt. Cory Lalonde with LSU Police said BRPD bomb techs determined the suitcase was empty, and they were also able to find the bag's owner. They were told the bag had been left by a trash can to be thrown away.
