BATON ROUGE - A judge formally sentenced suspected serial killer Jeffery Lee Guillory to life in prison today for strangling Renee Newman in 2002.
Prosecutors linked Guillory to the case using DNA found under Newman's fingernails.
He was convicted of second-degree murder in the case, which carries a mandatory life sentence.
Guillory was already serving time for an attempted murder, and prosecutors say DNA evidence connects him to the deaths of two other women in the Baton Rouge area.
