Suspected copper thief treated for electric shock
ST. MARTINVILLE - Around 1 am Tuesday St. Martin Parish deputies got a call about a medical emergency at the SLEMCO Electric Sub Plant at the intersection of Boon Lasseigne Road and Section 28 Road in St. Martinville.
Upon arrival officers discovered the medical emergency was for a suspected robber.
The suspect, identified as Jules Johnson, 35, of Henderson, was apparently shocked during an attempted theft of copper cable at the facility.
Deputies found burglary tools nearby.
The shock gave Johnson 2nd and 3rd degree burns.
He was transported to the hospital in guarded condition.
Johnson will face criminal charges relating to this incident upon his release from the hospital.
