Suspect who shot at officers identified
BATON ROUGE - Police released the name and mugshot of a man accused of firing at officers during a drug raid last night in Baton Rouge.
Officers accused Patrick Lathan of five counts of first-degree attempted murder of a police officer and illegal use of a weapon after Wednesday night's shooting.
Investigators said the shooting happened as police served a narcotics warrant at a home at North 36th and Cain Street. They said Lathan fired several shots, hitting one officer in the vest and injuring a second with shrapnel. The officers were not severely injured.
A Baton Rouge Police spokesman said officers did not return fire, and took Lathan and others into custody.
No other arrests were made and no drugs were recovered from the scene.
