Update: Police say the bullet grazed the officer, shattering his lapel microphone and missing his head by inches. He was not injured in the shooting.

BATON ROUGE - Police are searching for the suspect in a late night shooting in North Baton Rouge involving a police officer.

Officials with the Baton Rouge Police Department say an officer was shot at multiple times around midnight Thursday in the 3700 block of Sycamore Street.

A large perimeter in the area was blocked off for about 2 hours as authorities searched for the suspect.

The shooting is under investigation.
