Suspect in 1991 and 2002 murders indicted by Iberville grand jury
IBERVILLE – A grand jury indicted a man for two separate murders that occurred in 1991 and 2002 in Iberville Parish.
Tommy Francise, 61, was indicted on two counts of second degree murder for allegedly killing Curtis "Cochise" Smith in 1991 and George Barett in 2002.
In October, the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office told WBRZ that Francise allegedly had a confrontation with Smith over stolen equipment. Deputies believe that Francise placed Smith's body in a 55-gallon barrel and sank it in a body of water in Iberville Parish after shooting him.
Barrett, the other man Francise is accused of killing, was allegedly going to sue Francise for being injured on a job.
Francise was arrested in Lafayette around 4 a.m. on Oct. 27.
