Suspect identified in deadly shooting
PLAQUEMINE - Police released the name of the man they believe shot and killed a Plaquemine resident Monday night.
Capt. Kenny Payne said Thomas C. Johnson, 25, of Plaquemine was wanted in connection with the death of 39-year-old Darnell Paige.
Payne said Paige was shot and killed while riding in a car on Bourgeois Street. He said Paige returned fire at least ten times before the driver rushed him to police headquarters in Plaquemine. He later died from his injuries.
Paige was a suspect in a shooting that happened in October where a man was shot in the leg on the same street where Paige lived, Nats Alley. Payne said Paige's home was also shot at the night he was killed, and they said payback could have been the motive for the shootings.
Anyone who knows Johnson's location or any other information about the shooting should call the Plaquemine Police Department at (225) 687-9273, or the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office at (225) 687-3553.
