A lawyer in California, who was a respected reproductive law specialist, got five months in prison for a baby-selling scheme. Theresa Erickson also faces nine-months home confinement when she gets out and a $70,000 fine. Prosecutors say Erickson worked with two other women to line up parents for babies that had already been created. They say she sent U.S. surrogates to the Ukraine to be implanted with sperm and embryos from anonymous donors. Aspiring parents thought they were adopting legally.
