MONROE - Seven candidates have applied to be the next superintendent of the Monroe City School System.
The News-Star reports board attorney Doug Lawrence told the search committee the district received applications from five people Tuesday. Those five join the other two applications already submitted.
Among applicants are Sallie Humble Elementary principal David Claxton and retired educator Billye Burns, both from the Monroe area.
Of the remaining applicants, two are from Louisiana - Bonita Douzart, Shreveport, and Charles Michel, Metairie. Three are from outside of the state.
