Super Regional tickets sell out in five minutes
BATON ROUGE - Standing-room only tickets at Alex Box Stadium for this weekend's Super Regional went on sale at 8 a.m. Friday.
By 8:05 a.m. they were all gone according to the university, which had predicted they would go fast.
"We anticipate selling out in less than 5 minutes," Associate Athletic Director Brian Broussard had said Thursday.
The school said they only had 400 standing-room-only tickets left, sold at $30 each with a four-ticket limit per person. Season ticket holders had first dibs ahead of this weekend's series, and most of them took advantage.
Some tickets have shown up on online ticket market places including StubHub.com. The most expensive ticket is listed for Sunday's 5 p.m. game at $587.25.
The Tigers were at batting practice Thursday afternoon. Some fans without tickets came to see them before the Super Regional.
"Hope they keep playing like they've been playing," said LSU fan CJ Webre. "They got to hit the ball."
Alex Box capacity is about 11,000 people with standing room. LSU Athletics anticipate more than of 15,000 people Saturday and Sunday.
