Sunshine bridge worker dies from fall
DONALDSONVILLE- A 36-year-old man working on the Sunshine Bridge repair project died Sunday after he fell approximately 100 feet from the bridge, the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office said.
Marcos Rodregues, who address was not known, was pronounced dead at Prevost Hospital in Donaldsonville shortly after the 3:45 pm accident, Maj. Sid Berthelot said.
When he fell, he landed on the west bank levee of the Mississippi River.
Foul play is not suspected.
OSHA is conducting an investigation and both DOTD and State Police were notified of the incident when it occurred.
