Sunday bar ordinance becomes law
BATON ROUGE - The West Baton Rouge bar ordinance becomes law today, February 17th.
The new law stipulates that businesses selling alcoholic beverages must close at 10pm on Sundays and cannot reopen until 6am Monday.
There are some exceptions: Super Bowl Sunday, Sundays that are followed by holidays such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th or New Year's Day.
The new law applies only to bars in unincorporated areas of West Baton Rouge Parish.
It does not apply to restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, off-track betting parlors and truck stop casinos.
