SU Professors: Furloughs up for discussion again
BATON ROUGE - Southern University professors will meet Monday afternoon to figure out how they will contribute to making the university's ends meet.
The proposed budget was not approved by the Board of Supervisors Friday in Shreveport. It included 10 percent faculty furloughs, something the Faculty Senate voted against unanimously in weeks prior.
The Faculty Senate had offered up to 10 percent furloughs in July, but withdrew that offer after they received letters from Chancellor James Llorens asking them to agree to let the university fire them without prior notification.
The budget will be presented again August 31.
