SU Board member resigns
BATON ROUGE - A member of the Southern University Board of Supervisors has resigned effective immediately.
Calvin Braxton sent in a resignation letter late Wednesday night. He was a close supporter of James Llorens, the chancellor of the Baton Rouge campus.
The Board of Supervisors voted not to extend the contract of Llorens earlier in the week. That vote was a reconsideration of an earlier decision to not extend the chancellor's contract. The first vote was met with student protests.
Braxton believed that Llorens deserved an extension of three or more years, rather than a one-year extension that was voted on.
Llorens' contract expires on June 30.
