BATON ROUGE- Inmates are warning kids about what could happen if they don't turn their lives around.
Students from the Valley Park Alternative School spent the day at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison today and got a first-hand look at life behind bars.
Inmates talked to 15 boys about how they ended up there. After the visit, most of the kids told News 2 it was a place they never want to see again.
"They have the same background as us," said one student. "And if you just look at it you can make a decision right now before it gets too late."
"These rappers might say that it's all gravy in jail, but it's really not," another student told News 2.
More schools are scheduled visit the parish prison for this program.
