BATON ROUGE - A Baton Rouge middle school where building and safety problems were reported is about to begin classes again.
Students from Crestworth Learning Academy this year have been attending classes at Glen Oaks Middle School after reports of problems at Crestworth such as plumbing pulled form walls, missing ceiling tiles, chained exit doors and fire extinguishers that had not been properly inspected.
Now, the state Recovery School District, which oversees Crestworth, says students will return to the school on Monday.
In addition to upgrading the building to meet building code standards, the district says more than 40 computers have been added. Other improvements include fresh paint, new carpet, upgraded school furniture, and the development of a resource room for parents.
