PORT ALLEN- A 16-year old student is still in jail after school administrators say he brought a sawed-off shotgun to school Friday.

The administration was tipped off by two students who saw the boy with the weapon and the school was put on lock down until it was secured.

"It was gonna be a kind of show and tell incident, he brought it on campus, it was unloaded, to show it to some students," said Principal Warren LeJeune, "with it being difficult to have on the campus, he decided to put it in a trash can to keep it and hide it."

The teen was charged with terrorizing and possessing an illegal weapon on campus.

LeJeune says he's proud his students spoke up before something bad happened.

"It's good to know you have students that don't fall into what you see on television, about snitching and so forth and not telling, when these kind of incidents happen, even though you don't want them to happen, when they do happen, you actually have students that trust the faculty, staff and administration," said LeJeune.

The student will go before a judge Tuesday.
