BATON ROUGE - Students and faculty members rallied at Southern University in Baton Rouge today to find out how they could support their school system.

The school's marching band, "The Human Jukebox", performed at the rally where SU System President Dr. Ronald Mason Jr. told people how they could help the Southern system stay intact.

The state Board of Regents is considering merging Southern University at New Orleans and the University of New Orleans in an effort to save the state money.

Southern officials estimated between 300 and 500 attended the rally.
