Students back in school in Ascension Parish
GONZALES - Kids returned to school in Ascension Parish today, though some won't stay in their classrooms all year.
Work on the new G. W. Carver Primary School in Gonzales won't be completed until October, so students are starting the year still on the old campus.
The district says they plan to move into the new building once it comes online later this semester, and move kids into the new classrooms after the fall break.
The new building is one of several construction projects finishing up this year in Ascension Parish, all part of a $100 million bond approved in recent years by voters.
