Student in Calcasieu arrested for bringing gun to school
SULPHUR - Sheriff deputies in Calcasieu Parish have arrested a middle school student for bringing a gun to school.
The 14-year-old was arrested Thursday.
Officials at W. W. Lewis Middle School in Sulphur say students told the assistant principal about a student who brought a gun to school Wednesday and was showing it around.
Deputies were at the school Thursday morning when the student arrived and found an unloaded handgun in the student's waistband.
The teen was booked with possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
