Student arrested after gun found at Istrouma HS
BATON ROUGE - An Istrouma High School student was arrested today after authorities said he brought a handgun onto the school's campus.
17-year-old D'Mori Alexander, a 10th-grade student at Istrouma, was arrested in suspicion of illegal possession of a weapon on school property.
Sgt. Don Kelly with the Baton Rouge Police Department said the school was placed on lockdown around 1:00 p.m. after officials received information that Alexander was seen carrying a gun.
Officials searched the classroom he was in and found a .38 revolver hidden in a drawer; the gun wasn't loaded, but investigators said Alexander was later found to be carrying six bullets in his pocket.
Alexander was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail.
