EBRSO: Student arrested after bringing stun gun to school
BATON ROUGE - A 16-year-old was arrested this morning after officials said he had brought a weapon to Tara High in Baton Rouge, and was told to report to the alternative school but didn't.
Major Lawrence McLeary said EBR Sheriff's deputies arrested the student after he was found today sleeping in a classroom at Tara High.
McLeary said on Monday school officials were told the student had a weapon with him, and when they searched his bag they found a handheld stun gun. The student was sent home with his father and told to report to Valley Park Alternative School the next day.
Instead, McLeary said the student returned to Tara today and went to sleep in a classroom. Deputies took him into custody and then released him into his father's care.
