DONALDSONVILLE- People in neighborhoods off East Bayou Road in Donaldsonville are organizing Neighborhood Watch programs to try and stop a recent string of car burglaries.
Most of the thefts happenened early in the evening, and investigators say most of the cars hit were unlocked. Items like purses, GPS equipment and money were taken.
Hubert Louque hosted a neighborhood meeting at his house a few days after his wife's car was broken into. Louque noticed a problem while watching a recent football game on TV. He went to place the trash on the curb and noticed his wife's car doors open. Louque says someone snuck under his carport while he watched the game.
People attending the meeting plan on making sure cars are locked up, leaving more light on in the neighborhood and keeping each other informed.
