Update: Louisiana State Police say they are preparing the shut down part of Interstate 12, east bound, near LA 63, which is the Livingston/Frost exit.
An 18-wheeler that partially blocked part of I-12 earlier today is still on the side of the interstate. It was hauling what is believed to be a large industrial motor. The 18-wheeler's trailer tipped over when the driver attempted to pull-over on the interstate's shoulder. The wheels sank into the soft mud, which caused the trailer to tip on its side.
LSP will be shutting down the stretch of I-12 eastbound, just past Denham Springs, in about an hour. Traffic will detour from I-12 to LA 63. From there, drivers will take Hwy. 190 to LA 43, which leads back to I-12.
LSP says the stretch it will be shut down for an unknown amount of time. They say the 18-wheeler is carrying an extremely heavy load. It must be put upright, secured and removed.
