Storms ravage Sherwood neighborhood
BATON ROUGE- Storms that tore through the Capital City area early Monday morning left several homes destroyed in one Sherwood Forest neighborhood.
One man barely escaped with his life when a tree fell through his roof, just moments after he jumped out of bed.
"If I had not gotten out of that bed, I'd still be in that house on that bed, I'd be dead as a doorknob in there," said Steve Decell, whose home was destroyed.
Crews worked through the day to clear downed trees and restore power to hundreds of families left in the dark.
Roads in the area were closed into Monday night since debris was blocking travel lanes.
