BATON ROUGE - Afternoon storms knocked out power to thousands of people around southern Louisiana Friday.

Entergy reported more then 4,500 people in East Baton Rouge Parish alone lost power around 5 p.m.

The biggest cluster of outages were reported along O'Neal Lane, with around 2,400 people in the dark between I-12 and Old Hammond Highway.

DEMCO and Entergy together reported nearly 1,000 people lost power in Livingston Parish. Other parishes in the area had scattered outages of a few hundred people each.

Entergy estimated their customers could have the lights back on by 7:30 p.m.
