BATON ROUGE - News 2 has received many reports of storm damage in the capital region after severe weather moved through this morning.

The entire WBRZ viewing area remained under a tornado watch until 11 a.m. today.

Parish officials reported serious damage throughout Ascension Parish. The entire front of the 7th District Fire Department's garage in Gonzales was blown off, and homes along Black Bayou Road also saw light to severe damage.

Elecricity in the area is also out, according to the parish police jury. People are asked to avoid the are while work crews remove downed trees, inspect the damage and restore power.

Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps also said a possible tornado damaged property in Baker early Monday morning. The roof of a car wash along La. 19 was blown off, and some homes saw trees knocked over as well.
