Stores open early, stay open late for last-minute shoppers
BATON ROUGE - If you are one of the millions of American's who have yet to get their holiday shopping done, stores are staying open longer and opening earlier for your convenience. Kohl's is open for 100 hours straight. The store opened Friday at 6 a.m. and will stay open until Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Shoppers were busy looking through racks of clothing Friday evening in the Kohl's at Siegen Lane Marketplace.
"I'm truly done shopping," said Maydel Schexnayder.
Saturday is what retailers call Super Saturday, a day that competes with Black Friday for busiest shopping day of the year.
"I'm still shopping, I'm not done yet," said Sharon Brandenberg who is shopping for her granddaughter. "I still have a lot of things to do but I've been working so I haven't been able to shop."
Shoppers like Brandenberg appreciate the late hours because they don't interfere with work.
"I'm in the habit of shopping late because everyone else is leaving and there's less of a crowd to deal with," said Sean Burns.
Other stores including Target and Toys 'R' Us have extended hours. Both the Mall of Louisiana and Cortana Mall open early until Christmas.
