Stolen tortoise took elevator ride
DUBUQUE, IOWA- An 18-pound tortoise that vanished from the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium was found alive in an elevator of the building. Administrators at the facility believe it was stolen and the thief quietly returned it after publicity about the theft. The tortoise is named Cashew and was found by a visitor on the elevator and authorities say it appears in good health. The museum is reviewing surveillance video to try to figure out who took Cashew. It was taken from an exhibit with a four-foot glass wall and authorities suspect Cashew was stolen as a prank or as an effort to sell it.
