Police in San Francisco arrested a polling inspector for stealing up to 75 ballots, a voting roster and other election materials. Karl Nicholas was arrested after Tuesday's election and police say none of the materials was recovered. Nicholas is accused of breaking into a ballot-counting machine, taking ballots and a memory pack that records the information from the ballots. The Director of Elections also says Nicholas stole a cell phone from a poll worker. Police did not give a motive.
