SHREVEPORT - The penalty for a certain parking violation in Shreveport is about to jump sharply.
The violation - parking in a home's front yard. Now this citation costs about $15. However, KSLA TV reports that, beginning Monday, the first offense will be $100. The second offense will be $300, and the third offense will be $525.
Backers of the City Council's move to boost the fines say it is part of an attempt to clean up Shreveport neighborhoods.
The parking restriction requires that cars be parked on hard-surfaced, brick or gravel parking areas.
