Stats show drop in BR crime
BATON ROUGE - Major crimes in Baton Rouge dropped by 7.39 percent in 2013 when compared to 2012, according to numbers submitted by the BRPD to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting program.
Violent Crimes Against Persons which includes murder, rape, robbery, and assault dropped by 15.03 percent. The numbers of murders in the city fell from 66 to 49. Crimes Against Property like burglary, larceny, arson, and theft dropped by 5.83 percent.
The clearance rate for cases dropped from 18.61 percent in 2012 to 17.19 percent in 2013.
