State workers get 4-day weekend for 4th of July
BATON ROUGE - Gov. Bobby Jindal has given state workers a four-day holiday for Independence Day.
The governor made Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, legal holidays through an executive order issued last week. Jindal declared the dates "days of public rest."
However, the order allows appointing authorities to require officers or employees to work on the holidays when it is necessary "for the efficient administration" of those agencies.
