State tax deadline is on May 15th
BATON ROUGE - The deadline for filing Louisiana state tax returns and extension requests is Thursday, May 15.
The Louisiana Department of Revenue said that electronic filing is the fastest way to submit returns and get refunds processed.
The state offers a free tax filing web application to make the process easier which can be found by visiting the Department of Revenue's website.
The Department wishes to remind taxpayers that an extension allows more time to file a return but does not allow more time to pay taxes that are due. Extension requests must be submitted electronically, or by phone for those with limited Internet access.
Extensions can electronically filed at www.revenue.louisiana.gov/extensions or by calling (888) 829-3071.
