JEFFERSON PARISH- The Louisiana State Police are mourning the loss of police dog Luke.

Luke joined the LSP in 2013 when he was donated by the Mandeville Police Department. During his career, Luke helped in several large narcotics seizures. He worked and lived in the Troop B area.

He assisted in a Westwego case that led to the seizure of over $400,000 in assets. Luke was also responsible for a seizure of nearly $1.5 million in illegal narcotics proceeds and many stolen guns.

Luke retired from LSP in March because his health was declining. He was 12 when he passed away last week from cancer complications.
