State Police: man on tractor caused semi wreck, arrested
NORWOOD - State Police arrested a tractor driver in connection with an October 1st crash involving two 18-wheelers.
Troopers released details of their investigation and subsequent arrest late Thursday. Edward G. Delee, 52, was booked into the East Feliciana Parish Jail. Delee was charged with hit-and-run driving, negligent injuring and lamps on farm tractors, farm equipment and implements of husbandry.
Investigators said Delee was driving a 1978 tractor with no lights on Highway 67 south of the state line at about 8 p.m. on October 1st. Authorities said two tractor-trailers, traveling on opposite sides of the road, steered to avoid the tractor and collided. One of the drivers had to be taken via a helicopter to the hospital.
One of the trucks was hauling logs and spilled its load. The wreck also spewed diesel fuel all over the highway, State Police said. The crash caused an extensive closure of the highway.
Authorities said tips lead them to the arrest of Delee.
