PAINCOURTVILLE - State Police are asking for help to locate the driver involved in a hit-and-run with a cyclist in Assumption Parish.

The accident happened Wednesday night between 9 and 10 p.m. on LA-1 in Paincourtville. State Police say the bicycle was traveling south on LA-1 near LA-70 when it was hit by a white Ford Super Duty, similar to the one pictured.

The cyclist was transported to the hospital with "moderate" injuries, but the truck left the scene. Troopers believe it's damaged on the passenger-side

Anyone with information should contact State Police at (985) 857-3680.

Earlier this week, State Police issued a similar alert after a deadly hit-and-run involving a cyclist in Hammond. The suspect was arrested hours later. Troopers credited the power of social media for the quick arrest.
