State police investigate deputy involved shooting
DRY CREEK - State police are investigating a fatal shooting involving a Beauregard Parish deputy sheriff.
Sgt. James Anderson says deputies were investigation a domestic disturbance Wednesday involving 25-year-old Jacob Navarre of DeRidder when he fled the scene.
Anderson says when officers tried to arrest Navarre a short time later, he attempted to strike the deputies with his vehicle.
Anderson says that's when deputies fired shots fatally wounding Navarre. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
One deputy was taken the hospital with minor injuries.
The names of the deputies involved have not been released.
Anderson says the shooting remains under investigation.
