State police identify man killed in LA-1 crash
WHITE CASTLE - Deputies identified a 20-year-old man who died after a wreck on LA-1 south of LA Hwy 995.
Authorities said 20-year-old Jye Mitchell of Donaldsonville was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Friday morning after his vehicle ran off the road and hit a utility pole.
There was high water remaining from recent downpours in the area, but deputies do not suspect this was a factor in the crash, according to Brett Stassi of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office.
Louisiana State Police said excessive speed is considered to be a factor, but the crash is still under investigation.
