PRAIRIEVILLE - Louisiana State Police say a Gonzales man was driving drunk when he triggered a deadly crash in Prairieville last week.

Ashton Claiborne, 29, was arrested Wednesday after test results showed he was drunk at the time of the crash.

It happened Friday morning on Highway 73 between Airline Highway and Highway 42.

Troopers say Claiborne tried to pass a car driven by Carolyn Brouillette, 56, in a no passing zone.

Claiborne slammed into a cement truck which then hit Brouillette's car.

Claiborne was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail for 2nd Offense DWI, Vehicular Homicide and Vehicular Negligent Injuring.
