State Police: Deputy lost control before fatal crash
CENTRAL - Louisiana State police say East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputy Dustin Hamilton lost control of his cruiser right before a fatal crash on Joor Road Friday night.
State police say for some unknown reason Hamilton lost control of his car while he was driving north and crossed into the southbound lanes of Joor Road just south of Lovett Road in East Baton Rouge Parish.
State police say Hamilton overcorrected and was hit on the driver's side by a southbound SUV.
Hamilton died at the scene. State police say the driver of the SUV was taken to Oschner Medical Center with serious injuries.
Toxicology samples were taken from both drivers but State Police say they believe neither driver was impaired.
Hamilton joined the force less than two years ago.
