State pays for local construction projects
CENTRAL- Hooper Road will get a needed upgrade soon.
A $1 million project will expand the highway to four lanes. The state is paying for the work.
Only a section will be done at first, then more will be expanded. The plan calls for the stretch from Blackwater Bayou to Sullivan Road next.
Also, boat launches off Highway 42 along the Amite River are being renovated with money leftover from completed state construction projects.
