BATON ROUGE- Several members of the Louisiana House attended a three day retreat in Venice that wrapped up today. The lawmakers received $149 dollars in per diem and .55 cents per miles for travel to the popular fishing site near the Gulf of Mexico. All chairmen and vice chairmen of house committees were invited. Governor Jindal's Chief of Staff Paul Rainwater was also part of the group according to lawmakers on the trip.

State Representative Tim Burns, (R) Mandeville, went on the trip. He says there was some recreational time for fishing, but the trip included productive meetings and discussions.

Political watchdog C.B. Forgotston says there was an effort made to keep the trip quiet. He wants details about what was accomplished. Forgotston says some of the lawmakers using taxpayers money on this trip were some of the same saying a special legislative session was a waste of money.
