The Louisiana Department of Revenue says its online sales tax collection service has taken in more than $1 billion in state and local sales and use taxes.
Known as Parish E-File.com, the free web application lets businesses file returns and remit those taxes online.
The application was launched in August 2008.
Through the site, $830 million has been sent to parish and local governments and the state has received about $240 million.
