The state's Office of Group Benefits has awarded a contract to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.
It's a move the insurer said will add up to 200 jobs in Louisiana.
The contract was previously held by Humana.
Blue Cross, which has customer service centers in Baton Rouge and Shreveport, is not yet certain where its jobs will be located.
Blue Cross said the new employees it adds will process claims, provide customer service and meet other needs of state employees enrolled in the Office of Group Benefits' self-insured HMO health
plan.
The HMO covers 114,482 employees, retirees and their dependents.
