BATON ROUGE – The state auditor has launched an investigation into the mayor's office concerning BRAVE contracts.

The Louisiana Legislative Auditor's office was asked to investigate following reports of questionable deals for BRAVE programs and people who were tied to the mayor's administration. Calls for an investigation came Monday after WBRZ and the Hayride, a conservative website, outlined contracts associated with the crime-fighting program in Baton Rouge.

"It appears to me its political favors being given out by the Mayor's office," EBR Metro Councilman Buddy Amoroso said in a WBRZ report earlier this week.

Friday, the state auditor said his office has asked the mayor's office for all BRAVE contracts. State auditors are expected to delve deep into the matter next week.

In addition to the BRAVE contracts, the state auditor's office is also looking into an unrelated land deal that some have said is an unfair, sweetheart deal.
