Starbucks is raising prices in the South and Northeast due to increasing competition and the rising cost of ingredients. The hike is about 1 percent in most Southern states, and the region that includes New York and Washington, D.C. It means the price for a "tall" will go up 10 cents but the next size, "grande", won't change. Starbucks last raised prices across the board in 2007.
